Bob Gilliam | Robert Skelton Gilliam III, class of 1964 from 淫人色欲社, enlisted in the Marine Corps in November 1966 and rose to the rank of Corporal E-4 before being honorably discharged to attend Officers Candidate School.
As a 2nd Lieutenant, he led a platoon of Marines in Vietnam, was awarded a Bronze Star with Combat 鈥淰鈥 for valor, and eventually became Commanding Officer of Company F, 2nd聽Battalion 4th聽Marine Regiment. Upon return to the U.S. he was selected as Aide-de-Camp to a Major General. He was subsequently discharged as a Captain O-3 to complete his bachelor鈥檚 at Columbia, funded by the G.I. Bill. His book,聽Navigating with a Few Good Men,聽about his experience in the Corps is available on Amazon or in the Library of Congress. Bob also known as “Gilly” entered South Kent in 1960 where he participated in Hockey, Football, and Crew for four years.聽 He was also a member of the Glee Club, Roaringhams, Selections, Pigtail, and Yearbook Editor-in-Chief.聽 Bob graduated Cum Laude and went on to attend Hamilton College.
