Paul L. Abbott, 86, a longtime resident of Kent, CT, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Paul was an educator who played many different roles at his beloved 淫人色欲社 in South Kent, CT. He retired in 2014 after 49 years of dedicated service.

Born on September 26, 1939, in Newburgh, NY, he was the son of the late Nathaniel B. and Clara (Livingston) Abbott. Their example of unwavering devotion to teaching and interest in and respect for every member of the school community lived on in their son.

Paul grew up at the Millbrook School in Millbrook, New York. Here, under the influence of brilliant educators, his passion for teaching was ignited. The interactions between faculty families and the Millbrook boys became his model for an ideal school community.

Situated in the rolling hills of Dutchess County, Millbrook School was the ideal place for our future ecologist to thrive. Paul and his siblings explored the diverse ecosystems of the beautiful campus. He was also involved in various projects in the evolving Trevor Zoo at the school.

Paul had a natural eye for photography. He was intrigued by the subtleties involved in the printing process. Long hours in the Millbrook darkroom perfected his skills. Paul covered all school activities, from sports to visiting lecturers, cultural events, and graduations. He graduated cum laude听from Millbrook in 1957. Photography remained a lifelong hobby, and Paul built a darkroom in his Macedonia home.

At Kenyon College, Paul was enrolled in a liberal arts program. He thrived in the small classes. While he relished the new concepts learned in the arts, his passion for the logic and mysteries of science grew. He formed a deep friendship with one of his theology teachers and lasting relationships with some of the seminarians studying with him. Paul graduated cum laude听in 1961.

He received a Master of Arts in Teaching from Harvard University in 1962. Paul鈥檚 goal was to teach in a boarding school, but he also wanted to experience the public-school environment. He started his teaching career at Staples High School in Westport, CT. He then taught at Uniondale High School in Uniondale, NY. In 1965, he came to the Hillside at 淫人色欲社.

In the summer of 1962, a National Science Foundation Grant brought Paul to San Francisco State College, where he found Terese Wagner. He wooed her by mucking around in tide pools, swimming in the San Lorenzo River, walking among the redwoods, spending time in Carmel, and enjoying romantic evenings in San Francisco. His knowledge of poetry, deep theological discussions, commitment to family and teaching, and love of jazz won her heart. On July 4, 1964, at Holy Cross Church in Santa Cruz, CA, he married the love of his life, Terese.

Paul brought his wife and infant daughter to 淫人色欲社 in South Kent, CT, in the late summer of 1965. He was on duty from morning chapel services all the way through call-in at the end of the evening. He knew when the boys needed tough love or a peanut butter sandwich. He sympathized with them when they were sent home and rejoiced with them in both small and great achievements. He taught with great energy and love and lived by both the Millbrook School motto, 鈥淣ot for One鈥檚 Self, But for All,鈥 and 淫人色欲社鈥檚 Trinity of Values: 鈥淪implicity of Life, Self-Reliance, and Directness of Purpose.鈥

Following the example of his father at Millbrook School, Paul epitomized the best of boarding school teachers, wearing many hats with distinction. He was a master science teacher and served as Dean of Students, college guidance counselor, advisor, coach, business manager, Ambassador Program Director, and, at the end of his career, Senior Master.

Paul loved the beautiful town of Kent and felt compelled to give back to the community. He enjoyed politics and ran for Second Selectman at one time. The race was a close one. Following a recount, he was determined to have lost by a single vote. He also served on the Inland Wetlands Commission, the Zoning Board, and the Kent Center School Scholarship Committee.

Wanting to increase his knowledge and enrich his teaching, Paul spent several summers studying under National Science Foundation grants. In 1966, he and his young family headed to Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. In the summer of 1968, he studied at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. During the summers of 1971 and 1972, Paul and Terese loaded their VW bus with food, clothing, paper, crayons, books, games, and their two young daughters, destined for California. Pulling a pop-up camper over the mountains was quite the adventure. Luckily, gas was selling for $.19 a gallon. He spent 1971 at NASA and 1972 at Stanford University. At the time, researchers were making massive advances in computing and analyzing data from the moon landing. The dinner table conversations were fascinating.

Paul was present at 49 Prize Day ceremonies honoring South Kent students. This included his daughters, Kate (1982) and Ruth (1984). For a brief period in the 1970s and 1980s, South Kent opened its doors to local girls as day students. Paul鈥檚 final year at South Kent coincided with the graduation of his grandson, Corey Greenberg (2014).

The dedication of the 1971 yearbook honored Paul and read:

鈥淚f there are perfect people in the world, then Mr. Abbott is one of them. He is an excellent teacher, advisor, and friend. In his classroom, anyone who has the slightest desire to learn, learns. Late in the night, sitting in his living room, he can make the days and weeks you have spent worthwhile and make the days ahead seem even more exciting than you thought possible.鈥

淫人色欲社 established the Paul and Terese Abbott Cup more than two decades ago. It is awarded to a one-year postgraduate student who, during his time at 淫人色欲社, most embodies the principles of the School. This year鈥檚 recipient will be attending Suffolk University in the fall.

In addition to his loving wife, Paul is survived by two daughters, Kate Abbott of Fairfax, VA, and Elizabeth Ruth Greenberg and her husband, Elliot, of Kent, CT. He is also survived by a brother, Donald B. Abbott of North Andover, MA, and a sister, Betsy Elkins of Syracuse, NY. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Sebastian, Joaquin, and Jacian Perez; Dillon Greenberg and his wife, Catherine; Kyle Greenberg and his wife, Kristen; and Corey Greenberg and his wife, Krystal; as well as a great-grandson, Paul James Greenberg.

A memorial service at St. Michael鈥檚 Chapel at 淫人色欲社 will be announced in the fall.

In remembrance of Paul鈥檚 life and service, the family asks that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to 淫人色欲社 to establish the Paul Abbott Fund for Faculty Development. Gifts may be made online through the School鈥檚 giving page听听or sent directly to 淫人色欲社, 40 Bulls Bridge Road, South Kent, CT 06785. Please designate 鈥淧aul Abbott鈥 when making your gift.

The Reverend Michael Corrigan of Colrain MA, died unexpectedly of a heart attack on Feb 1, 2026 at the age of 80. Born in Baltimore MD to Bishop Daniel and Elizabeth Corrigan, he grew up in St. Paul, MN, Denver, CO and New York City.

Informed by his parents鈥 dedicated works of civil disobedience and gender equality in the Episcopal Church, Michael spent his early adult years at Columbia University, there he protested the Vietnam war, served on the Strike Coordinating Committee during the historic, student-led University shutdown of 1968, and volunteered at St. Stephen and the Incarnation in Washington DC.

Fortified by these experiences, Michael sought a career in the ministry. He graduated from the Episcopal Theological School in Cambridge, MA and was ordained by Bishop Paul Moore at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City. He served first as curate at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Lake Forest, IL and shortly thereafter became rector at Church of the Good Shepherd in Granite Spring, NY.

Michael then moved to the Boston area where he served first as chaplain at Boston University, then as rector at St. John鈥檚 Church in Westwood, MA, and finally as rector at Church of Our Savior in Brookline, MA, where he faithfully and tirelessly served for 17 years. Michael鈥檚 vision for Church of Our Savior was that of a thriving, multigenerational community, built on a dedication to the Gospel, Christian intellectualism, education, and acts of service and kindness. The lives and families he touched during his ministry there will always be a part of the church鈥檚 legacy.

Upon his retirement from Church of Our Savior, Michael was appointed chaplain at the Northfield Mount Hermon School in Gill, MA. Drawing from the deep love he had for his own boarding school experience, he enthusiastically taught, coached, mentored, and ministered both teacher and student alike, reinvigorating the church鈥檚 role in the community of NMH.

Michael served as a trustee for his beloved alma mater the 淫人色欲社 as well as Hebron Academy. In 2001, Michael provided counseling and spiritual guidance to survivors and responders at Ground Zero in the aftermath of 9/11. In his retirement, he was an active member of St. John鈥檚 Church in Ashfield, MA, where he was assistant treasurer and served on the liturgy and mission committees. He also traveled widely, from Machu Picchu to Rome, sang in the Greenfield Community College Chorus, relished his daily runs and was an avid Boston University hockey fan.

Michael Corrigan was a remarkable and giving father, husband, partner, friend, confidant, and healer. His compassion, warmth, and infectious humor is deeply loved and missed. Michael is survived by his adored partner, Nancy Boyd; his children; Nell Waters, Sam, James, and Patrick Corrigan; and grandchildren; Max, Luke, and Logan Bernegger, Sienna, Fiona, and Celine Corrigan; he is also survived by his daughters-in-law; Alexandra Pirozzi and Julia Corrigan; loved co-parent Sylvia Robinson Corrigan, mother of Nell and Sam and his many beloved nieces and nephews. Dr. Philip R. B. McMaster, 95, of Providence, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully and surrounded by immediate family on December 11, 2025. A devoted husband and father, he was an insatiably curious scientist, medical researcher, and psychiatrist, an inveterate sailor and an indefatigable painter.

Phil was born on February 19, 1930, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and graduated from 淫人色欲社, Princeton University and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.听 As an intern at New York Hospital, he met Elizabeth (Betsy) Wilkins, a social worker, and the two were married in 1958. Following Phil鈥檚 training in immunology, he and Betsy lived for two wonderful years in Paris while he worked at the Pasteur Institute. They made many life-long friendships there, and adventures traveling throughout France in a dilapidated convertible Citro毛n provided a lifetime of stories.

Returning to the United States, Phil pursued his passion for laboratory research for decades at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, where he also completed a residency in clinical pathology, the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta and Rhode Island Hospital/Brown University in Providence. Always eager to master new subjects, he later did another residency in psychiatry at Brown and spent the remainder of his career in practice at area clinics. Working with patients in these settings gave him great satisfaction and proved a perfect match for his scientific mind, quietly outgoing nature, and ability to see the world in unconventional ways.

Phil was never happier than on a boat under sail. He and Betsy joked that they owned a sailboat before they ever considered purchasing a home, and they spent many weekends and vacations sailing the Chesapeake and the coast of New England. Georgia鈥檚 barrier islands and Kennebunk, Maine, were two places Phil had deep family roots and visited often, and he and Betsy adored spending summers in Kennebunk where they frequently hosted grandchildren, extended family and innumerable friends. Phil was also an avid artist, painting throughout his adult life and trying his hand at everything from ceramics to printmaking. His favorite subject was the sea, and dozens of his paintings adorned the walls of his home. He was a long-time member of the Providence Art Club, where he was known to take many classes at once. A true polymath and always eager to meet new people and help others, he led an active, independent life, reading voraciously, hosting guests, visiting family, traveling, painting, and making plans for the future until just days before passing.

Phil is deeply missed by a wide circle of family and friends. Predeceased by his beloved wife Betsy, he is survived by his son Charley and his wife Debbie of Pepperell, Massachusetts; his son Joseph and his wife Gretchen Sinnett of Melrose, Massachusetts; and his grandchildren Caroline (Callie), Benjamin and Iain, his sister Gail Alling of York, Maine, and dozens of relatives.

A memorial service will be held at St. Martin鈥檚 Church at 50 Orchard Ave. in Providence on February 21, 2026 at 11:00am with a reception to follow in the Great Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions can be made to St. Martin鈥檚 in Phil鈥檚 memory.

Charles George “Chick” Willing, 91, of Eliot, ME, died peacefully on December 9, 2025, at his home.

Chick was born in Philadelphia, PA on April 22, 1934, the oldest of five children of Leroy and Eleanor (Haviland) Willing. He attended Northeast Catholic High School in Philadelphia and Springfield College in Springfield, MA. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves in the early 1950s, then later in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. While in the Army, he was stationed in Chicago and served as an aide to General William H. Arnold, commander of the U.S. Fifth Army.

In 1961, he married Roberta (Rae) Willing, and shortly afterward, they moved to South Kent, CT, where Chick served as 淫人色欲社’s business manager and coached football, basketball and crew. Roberta was South Kent’s Director of Development for many years.

Although Chick knew little about rowing before arriving at South Kent, crew became an important part of his life. He helped lead a South Kent crew that competed at the Henley Royal Regatta in England in 1966. There he met people who influenced his coaching career. He and others formed the Litchfield Rowing Association (LRA), a summer program based at South Kent intended to train potential future Olympic oarsmen. From 1968 through 1971, LRA won multiple national junior championships. Chick took the LRA crew to compete at the 1968 junior world rowing championships in Amsterdam, Netherlands. In 1969, Chick became South Kent’s head crew coach and achieved great success, culminating in a New England championship in 1973. Later, Chick led an effort to bring the Eastern Association of Women’s Rowing Colleges (EAWRC) Eastern Sprints regatta to Lake Waramaug in New Preston, CT. In recognition of Chick’s importance to the regatta and his contributions to women’s collegiate rowing, the EAWRC awards the Charles G. Willing Trophy each year to the women’s crew with the most overall points at the regatta.

Throughout his life, Chick was actively involved in public affairs. He served for multiple terms as a Selectman for the Town of Kent, CT and in leadership roles for the local Democratic Party.

For many years, Chick and Roberta and their family spent summers in Ogunquit, ME, where they had first met. Their house on Shore Road near Perkins Cove was constantly full of family, extended family, friends and laughter. After Chick and Roberta “retired” from South Kent in the early 1990s, they moved permanently to Ogunquit. There, Roberta owned and operated the Animal Crackers gift shop and Chick became a real estate agent and served for multiple terms as an Ogunquit Town Selectman.

In 1999, Chick and Roberta moved to Eliot, where Roberta passed away in 2002. Chick continued to reside at their home in Eliot and to work in real estate with his long-time business partner, Kelly Kiernan. He was an active member of both First Parish Congregational Church in York, ME and Saint Martin’s Catholic Church in Somersworth, NH. He also chaired the First Parish Cemetery Association board of trustees and served on the Marvelwood School (Kent, CT) board of trustees for many years.

During the course of his life, Chick rarely sat still for long and loved learning new things. He greatly enjoyed playing music and was proficient at many instruments, including the guitar, banjo, violin and fiddle, and was a member of the New England Fiddle Ensemble, practicing and performing all over Southern Maine and New Hampshire. He was also a prolific baker and well known by his friends and family alike for his communion bread, elegant cornucopias, pies and other baked delights.

Survivors include his three sons, Charles G. Willing Jr. and his wife, Maura, of Concord, NH, Robin S. Willing and his wife, Wendy, of Amsterdam, Netherlands, and Brian D. Willing and his wife, Kathryn, of Amstelveen, Netherlands; a sister, Lucille Wargo and her husband, Paul, of Sarasota, FL; and four granddaughters, Elizabeth Willing, Virginia Willing, Eleanor Willing and Charlotte Willing.

The family wishes to thank Karen Zaramba, Christine Diehl, Kelly Kiernan and Angel Baker for giving extraordinary support to Chick in his later years, enabling him to live these years as he wanted to.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Pope Memorial Humane Society – Cocheco Valley, Dover, NH, or to 淫人色欲社, South Kent, CT. Services will be announced at a later date.

Jonathan Bradshaw Lyttle died peacefully at home on December 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He had bravely fought the disease of Chondrosarcoma since 2021, doing everything possible to live for the family to whom he was so devoted. Born on October 12, 1944 to Christie and Jean Lyttle in Schenectady, New York, and raised in Greenwich, New York, as the second of five sons, Jon was a 1968 graduate of Cornell University’s School of Architecture. He began his career in San Francisco after serving in the U.S. Army at the Presidio and later in Boston, where he established his own practice and worked on projects including Wang Laboratories and resort properties in Vermont. After meeting his beloved wife, Ann Dickey, in Sun Valley, Idaho, he moved to McLean, Virginia, and joined the design and facilities group at The World Bank. Over a thirty-year career there, he oversaw the construction of the new World Bank headquarters and collaborated with directors to create office environments that supported a rapidly expanding workforce and evolving organizational needs. He especially cherished his consulting years after official retirement, working on projects around the world, including a new World Bank headquarters in Ghana. Jon absolutely loved his career in architecture 鈥 whether remodeling his family鈥檚 homes or helping relatives and friends solve design challenges. His family will forever remember his devotion, love, and guidance. His friends will remember his kindness, sincerity, and humility. His grandchildren will remember him as 鈥淕ee-Guy,鈥 who would drop everything to listen with delight to their growing minds. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Ann Dickey Browning; his daughters, Caitlin (Kevin) Crotty of Houston and Tayler (Bryan) Prout of Charlottesville; and five grandchildren, Parker, James, Max, Paige, and Connor. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the UVA Comprehensive Cancer Center.
